I. Test Objectives
Determine optimal granulation parameters (raw material ratio, moisture content, particle size, etc.)
Optimize drying conditions (temperature, time, air velocity)
Evaluate product performance (clumping ability, water absorption, dust rate)
II. Material Preparation
1. Basic Raw Materials:
Bentonite (10-20 kg, depending on cat litter type)
Binder (sodium carbonate, recommended dosage: 4%)
2. Equipment List:
Mixer
Granulator (disc granulator)
Drying oven (with temperature control and air circulation)
Sieving machine (20-80 mesh standard sieve)
Balance scale
Measuring cup
III. Granulation Test Plan
1. Raw Material Pretreatment:
Crush bentonite to 200 mesh
Adjust moisture content (recommended: 15-25%)
2. Key Control Points:
Observe granulation yield (target > 90%)
Record particle surface smoothness
Test green pellet strength
IV. Drying Process Test
1. Drying Curve Test:
Set gradient temperatures in drying oven (60°C / 80°C / 100°C)
Sample every 30 minutes to measure moisture content and stir once (target ≤ 10%)
2. Performance Testing Methods:
Water absorption speed: Add 5 ml water to 1 g sample, record complete absorption time.
Clump strength test: Remove the clump after absorption, observe its structural compactness, lightly press with fingers to test fragility, and record the longest time the clump remains intact.
It is recommended to conduct small-scale tests (5-10 kg per batch) first to optimize parameters before scaling up production. In actual production, subsequent processes such as cooling and sieving should be considered for final quality control.
