A renowned Ethiopian real estate company operates two asphalt drying equipment units that have been in service for many years. The asphalt dryers were originally procured from Europe. During technical discussions, ZK Corp’s engineers—using only the client’s on-site equipment photos, structural diagrams, key dimensions, and primary operational parameters—immediately drafted a schematic proposal for review. Both parties collaboratively confirmed the selection of drive motor power, reduction ratio, and transmission method. Ultimately, both sides decided to adopt a cardan shaft universal coupling, which effectively resolves shaft misalignment issues during operation, addressing the client’s critical challenge. The client highly endorsed ZK Corp’s solution, and a cooperation agreement was finalized on the same day.
Structural composition and characteristics
The roller drive system primarily consists of an electric motor, reduction gearbox, cardan shaft universal coupling, bearing housing, and rollers. By driving the rollers to rotate, it propels the operation of the asphalt dryer. ZK Corp proposed cardan shaft universal coupling functions to transmit torque and motion while compensating for angular deviations or shaft misalignment between two axes, ensuring efficient and reliable power transmission. Its core roles include:
• Transmitting torque and enabling variable-angle drive: Connecting non-collinear shafts with substantial angular offsets (up to ±45°) to achieve constant-velocity rotation23;
• Resolving shaft misalignment issues: Providing angular compensation capabilities (typically 15°–30°) to accommodate installation errors or dynamic operational deviations23;
• Enhancing transmission efficiency: Maintaining stability under heavy loads and high speeds with minimal energy loss2;
• High load capacity and wear resistance: Featuring robust mechanical strength suitable for industrial heavy-duty applications2.
