Aluminum Ash Replaces Part of High Bauxite to Prepare Aluminate Cement Clinker

Aluminum Ash is a solid waste discharged from aluminum and aluminum products processing industry. Its effective aluminum composition (aluminum simple substance and alumina) is high, which has the potential to replace high bauxite.

Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery CO.,Ltd. research uses aluminum ash to replace high bauxite to prepare raw material of aluminate cement, and uses synchronous thermal analysis (TG-DSC) to determine the calcination system of raw material; X-ray diffraction (XRD) the influence of the substitution of aluminum ash on the mineral composition of the prepared aluminate cement clinker was studied. In addition, the physical and mechanical properties of the prepared aluminate cement were analyzed. The research results show that aluminum ash can partially replace high bauxite to prepare aluminate cement clinker, the prepared aluminate cement clinker after grinding the aluminate cement meets the requirements of GB/T 201-2015 "aluminate cement" CA50 grade aluminate cement, which not only reduces the production cost of aluminate cement, it also realizes the comprehensive utilization of resources.

According to the pilot test data, ZK CORP machine proves that aluminum ash can partially replace high bauxite to prepare aluminate cement, and has the following characteristics:

(1) with the increase of aluminium ash content, it can improve the combustibility of raw material of aluminate cement, promote the absorption of free calcium oxide and reduce the energy consumption of burning.

(2) under the condition that the rate is equal, the clinker prepared by replacing high bauxite with aluminium ash will inhibit the formation of early strong mineral CA and increase the mineral CA2.

(3) the performance of clinker prepared by replacing high bauxite with aluminium ash completely meets the requirements of national standard GB/T 201-2015 "aluminate cement" ca50-i.

Due to the special performance and application of aluminate cement, the chemical composition of aluminum ash is similar to that of bauxite, but due to the large difference of various composition of aluminum ash, there will be various changes in the mineral composition of the prepared aluminate cement clinker, therefore, further research is needed to prepare aluminate cement from aluminum ash.

To sum up, using aluminum ash to replace part of high bauxite to prepare aluminate cement can not only reduce the production cost of aluminate cement, but also reduce the pollution of aluminum ash to the environment and realize the comprehensive utilization of resources.
