STEEL SLAG CRUSHING PROJECT

Project Introduction

There is a steel slag processing company abroad that specializes in providing supporting services to steel plants. It needs to crush and further recycle the steel slag produced by the steel plants. Based on the previous inspection results and understanding of the equipment, the customer tends to use a ball mill. But there are great concerns about the small particle size of the material discharged after grinding by the ball mill, the large vibration of the ball mill that can cause significant damage to the foundation, and the high noise generated by the mill.

Project Solution 

The customer's requirement is to crush steel slag. Steel slag has a high hardness, but the particle size of the crushed material should be less than 3mm. Customers are concerned about electricity consumption and the impact of equipment vibration on the foundation. Because the customer's factory is located in the city, they have concerns about noise pollution. Compared to ball mills and rod mills of the same specifications, rod mills have the advantages of lower power and lower noise. The specific manifestations are as follows:

Particle size requirements for grinding products

Ball mills are usually used for fine grinding to grind materials finer. This requires stronger impact energy, so the operating speed is usually higher, the throwing of steel balls is more violent, and the noise is naturally greater.

Rod mills are usually used for coarse grinding, crushing materials to medium particle size. Its mode of action determines that it is not suitable for producing overly fine products, therefore its energy input and intensity are relatively low.

The phenomenon of "over crushing" of materials

The point impact of the ball mill can easily lead to "over crushing", producing a large amount of unnecessary fine powder, and this process itself is accompanied by a large amount of ineffective energy consumption and noise.

The line contact effect of the rod mill is selective, and the gaps between the rods allow coarse particles to be broken first, while fine particles are easy to slide out of the gaps, avoiding over crushing, higher energy utilization efficiency, and less ineffective impact noise.
